You are Mine by Janeal Falor
Synopsis
Serena knows a few simple things. She will always be owned by a warlock. She will never have freedom. She will always do what her warlock wishes, regardless of how inane, frivolous, or cruel it is. And if she doesn’t follow the rules, she will be tarnished. Spelled to be bald, inked, and barren for the rest of her life—worth less than the shadow she casts.
Then her ownership is won by a barbarian from another country. With the uncertainty that comes from belonging to a new warlock, Serena questions if being tarnished is really worse than being owned by a barbarian, and tempts fate by breaking the rules. When he looks the other way instead of punishing her, she discovers a new world. The more she ventures into the forbidden, the more she learns of love and a freedom just out of reach. Serena longs for both. But in a society where women are only ever property, hoping for more could be deadly.

Would like to thank the author Janeal Falor for gifting me this book for a honest review. This is very different type of story from what I'am used too, but its a good different.
We are introduced to this warlock world where the woman are just property and owned by their master and must do their bidding.
Yes really!!!! The woman have no opinion and are treated horribly. When their masters get really upset with them or no longer have use for them they are cast out and marked and they are known as tarnished. Serena fears being owned by someone else but fears even more being tarnished.
" My blood will entice warlocks to ask for my hand in marriage, so of course Father wants it spilled. The sooner the magic within it is measured, the sooner he can sell me off. According to the laws of Chardonia, there's no escaping it. For me that day has come."
For Serena her day has come and she is tested and her blood is very magical, her father very quickly finds her a owner, that warlock is Thomas. Thomas invites them to company him to the yearly tournament, where the warlocks compete magically against each other. Thomas of course is a cruel and horrible warlock, but he gets killed by another warlock an Envadi known for being a barbaric group.
Now Zade the Envadi is Serena's new owner, and things take a very interesting turn for her. Zade is different, he isnt cruel to her, he asks for her opinion and spends time with her. At first Serena is not sure what to think of Zade, she is not used to being treated well and it scares her, but soon starts to have feelings for him and wants to protect him
"No one can compete with how Chancellor Zade treats me, but does he see me as more than just a possession? I want him to, but I'm afraid to hope."
Serena's father is very upset that his daughter belongs to this Envadi and will do anything to get her back, Serena fears what will happen if she is returned and fears for Zade's life. I really loved Serena, she tried to brave and wanted things to change so badly for the woman, we see her really grow. And what can I say about Zade he was a good guy and he got better and better. What he did for Serena was beautiful really.
"Yes, I want to spend time with you. Yes, you can do the spell." I take several breaths, but it doesn't help. My heart still flutters wildly. " And yes, please kiss me."
